Thankfulness

I know I have so much to be thankful for in my life and today I had a couple of things on my mind that I am particularly thankful for.

1.  I am thankful for my hubby and my mom.  Without them to keep me grounded I am sure I would go over the edge.  Lately, I have begun to realize that I am a little high-strung and my emotions totally run the gamut.  I like to think about it a little differently, that I just feel everything really deeply.  These two people give me some perspective and to live in the here and now, not in the past or the future.

2.  I am thankful that I had two days of workshops this week.  This gave me a chance to just be and not have to worry as much about getting my students ready for the test and to put my teaching and my students learning back into perspective.  Yes, I want my students to do well on the test, but there is more to getting an education than testing.  Being around teachers from other schools also helped me realize that we are all in the same boat.  I still really appreciate my job and know I am lucky to work where I do.

3.  I am thankful I was able to go outside and exercise yesterday.  I walked 1.8 miles until it was time for me to get ready to go to class.  I feel better knowing I am trying to get healthier.  I probably won't be able to go out side today because we are expecting some rain and storms, but I can do something inside.

4.  I am thankful we are still getting Spring Break.  A lot of districts in our areas are using at least 2 days of Spring Break to make up some snow days that were missed.  I am glad that we will still be able to go on our trip to Dallas.

Sometimes it's good to stop and think about what you are thankful for.  I have come to realize that you can be just as thankful for the small things in your life as the big things.
